Faberge Museum
A new place on the tourist map of St. Petersburg -
the Faberge Museum - has already earned rave
reviews from visitors. People says that it is one of
the most beautiful and modern museums in the
Northern capital.
The museum’s collection includes more than 4000
pieces of art: jewelry collections, Russian
porcelain, enamel, stone-cutting and silverware,
icons and paintings of the 19th century.
The main part of the display is Karl Faberge’s
collection. It presents all product lines of the
famous jeweler and his manufactory: jewelry,
fantasy creation, silverware, haberdashery, interior
and religious items. The most valuable items of the
collection are 9 Easter eggs that had been created
by order of the last two Russian’s monarchs. These
are masterpieces of jewelry. These are historical
and cultural monuments. In the period from 1885 to
1916, 50 Imperial Easter eggs were made. The first
and last of them are the property of the museum's
collection.
